Boot Brewfest
There’s a public brewfest event coming to Acadiana! After over a year with no beer fun, on Saturday, April 10 the Boot Brewfest will take place at Lakeview Park & Beach in Eunice, LA.
This is a HOMEBREW FESTIVAL. The festival will provide education on the homebrewing process, as well as provide samples of home brewed beer from the brewers themselves. (some local breweries will also be there) The Dead Yeast Society will be participating. Adrien Monteleone will be running the homebrew demonstration, which will take place from 10:00 – 2:00.
The event will include an awards ceremony for homebrews entered in the Boot Brewfest Homebrew Competition, which is a BJCP sanctioned event, with judging currently in progress.
A Cajun barn dance will wrap up the day.
Different homebrew clubs from around the state, including Dead Yeast, will provide homebrew to be served to attendees. At this time, 24 brewers have already submitted brews to be served. There will a “People’s Choice” award voted on by those sampling the brews.
The Dead Yeast has two beers promised so far, most certainly, more are welcome! This may be our only festival this year as Gulf Brew is very uncertain. Submitting a 5 gallon batch will get you free entry to the festival! This is a $40 value, and includes a free sampling cup and a food voucher.
If you plan to bring beer (there is still time to brew a quick and easy ale!) then you need to fill out the Festival Beer Entry Form. (you must be logged in to view and submit the form) This will give us the info on the brew so we can make signs (like we do for GulfBrew) and we will also use that info to register your beer with the festival. Please fill out the form by Wednesday April 8th so we have time to print signs.
If there are enough of us attending, we will likely use the Club Coffin and possibly the Ice Well, otherwise, plan on bringing an ice chest, trash can, or other container to hold your beer ( they will provide ice) and a means to tap it. We have CO2, but limited means to distribute without the Coffin. So if you have your own, that would help.
Finally, if someone is interested in attending even just to drink and be festive, and you have a truck or trailer and can help us haul the Coffin and/or Ice Well, that would be much appreciated! Contact, Jim or Mark via the Contact Us link, above in the menu, ASAP to let them know you can help out.
