Gulf Brew 2023

Acadiana’s largest craft beer festival — sample over 200 beers from distributors, local breweries and home brewers. Enjoy food, live music & beer!

Who Can Attend?

DYS members, in current standing, who donate at least 2.5 gallons of beverage, assist with the demo and/or beer pouring are eligible to get a wristband for free admission! Check with Adrien for details, limits may apply. (see ‘What We Serve’ section below for beverage donation information)

If you are not a paid member, but would like to volunteer or donate beverage, please Contact Us before October 1st. (or come to the October 3rd Club Meeting)

If you are part of another local homebrew club and would like your club to have their own tent at Gulf Brew, contact Corinne Sprague with the ACA.

If you are a local brewer by yourself, and don’t have a club to serve with at this event, we’ll do our best to work you in to our tap rotation. Contact Us for more information.

Of course, anyone can buy a ticket through ACA and just drink beer!

Serving Locations

The Dead Yeast Society will once again host TWO tents this year:

Main Tent

Our Main Tent pouring our Draft ‘home brew’ Beer. We’ll serve from our old-faithful ‘Irish Coffin’. It has 8 taps, two of which can be set up for Nitro pours. We can serve from Ball-lock, Pin-lock, or up to 2 Sanke kegs.

Beers will be quality tested before serving. The best brews will be served during VIP hour or until they float. After that, beers will be rotated as needed, usually once per hour regardless of if they float or not. We can always re-tap an unfinished keg later if we run out of everything else before the event is over.

T-Shirts, Stickers and any other Dead Yeast merchandise we have will be sold here as well.

Educational Tent

An Educational Tent with a Show-n-Tell area, perhaps a Live Brew Demo, and additional beer and other beverages will be served at a second location.

This tent will also be a Designated Driver stop this year as we will be serving non-alcoholic Hop Water.

Non-draft beverages (for those who bottle or can their home brew) and alternative beverages (Mead, Cider, Wine, Seltzer, etc.) may also be served here instead of the Main Tent. (we try to balance our tap offerings available at any one time)

    What We Serve

While our main club focus is beer, we can pour *any* type of ‘home brew’:

    • Beer
    • Mead
    • Cider
    • Seltzer
    • Wine
    • Hop Water
    • other alcohol or non-alcohol beverage

If you are donating beverage to the event, please fill out our Beer Entry Form ASAP! (site/club membership required) This information is used to make beer signs at the serving tents, and our tap lineup is published in the ACA festival guide. Additionally, we showcase our lineup on our website and on Untappd for public feedback.

We have not yet secured a storage location for kegs prior to the event. If and when we do, we’ll let you know.

We are not responsible for your keg *after* the event. Either stay until the end to get it yourself, or make arrangements with someone *in advance* to do so for you. If you do not, and we end up with ‘abandoned’ kegs, there is no guarantee that any beer left in them will be stored cold, but if the beer is tasty and someone has to take it home for you, it will likely ‘pay rent’. (We appreciate and encourage beer donations, but we don’t appreciate donors getting sloshed or not caring and then pestering us later for their kegs.)

If you would like to assist with organizing our Gulf Brew presence, please sign up for our Festivals & Events committee.
