February 2022 Club Meeting

Our monthly club meeting! Social officially starts at 5:30 with homebrew tastings. This is an excellent opportunity to seek feedback on your brew or just to share! (and if you like, leave an extra bottle as thanks for management and bar staff)

Club business starts at 6pm, usually lasts about 45 minutes to an hour, and we conclude with another sampling of homebrew.

This month we’ll meet at World of Beer so when we’re done with the meeting, we don’t have to drive anywhere for a bite to eat and enjoy fine Louisiana craft brew! Bring friends! (we’ll meet on the patio, weather permitting)

Bataille des Bières 2022

Our 11th Annual Homebrew Competition will be held THIS Saturday, Feburary 5th at Jim Boudreaux’s home.

We need your help!

Each of our 6 judging tables needs a steward to help keep paperwork straight, fetch beer, assist with glassware, etc.

Stewards help us make the competition run smoothly for the judges, so they can focus on the beer.

While we really need someone for each table from 9–4, if you can help out for any amount of time this weekend, please signup on our Contest Site.

Festivals & Competitions

Basin Brew Fest

Saturday March 26th — Downtown Morgan City

It’s been a couple of years since the last one, but at least a few of us will be attending and serving homebrew. Like most festivals a 5-gallon homebrew donation gets you in for free. If you’d like to be there, contact Adrien ASAP.

Boot Brew Fest & Competition

Saturday March 5th — Competition Entry Deadline

Saturday April 23rd — Festival, Lakeview Park & Beach, Eunice

This was quite a hit last year and the Dead Yeast will be present again with both a serving tent and brew demo. If you want to make a weekend of it, the Friday night will be the awards ceremony for the homebrew competition, along with food & brew share. Cabins and Tent Pads available with a discount for brewers.

There will be a People’s Choice award for brew served at the festival, and the winner gets a Spike Flex Fermenter! (Brew NOW to up your game!)

Judging Certification

If you’ve ever been interested in judging homebrew competitions, now is the time to crack the books!

You can take your Entrance Exam online anytime at

Once you pass (you can retake all you need) then you can schedule a Judging Exam. There will likely be two of these given in Louisiana this year, one in May, and another TBD. (You have to take the Judging Exam within 1 year of passing the Entrance Exam)

If you would like to learns the in’s and out’s of judging first hand and get some practice, help us out with Bataille des Bières and join us for Judging Sessions for Boot Brew Fest.
