National “Homebrew Day” Demo 2026
Join us in celebrating National Homebrew Day!
In 1988, May 7 was announced before Congress as National Homebrew Day. The American Homebrewers Association created Big Brew as an annual event on the first Saturday in May to celebrate National Homebrew Day around the world. In celebration with other homebrewers, we’ll be serving and brewing two ‘official styles’ for the event: Pre-Prohibition Porter, and Trappist Single.
We’ll be on Brillo’s Pad (out back) at Adopted Dog Brewery doing brew demonstrations of these two styles and serving some up for sampling!
This event is free and open to the public. (must be 21+ for samples)

Hourly Schedule
- 9:00am - 10:30am
- Setup
- Setup tent, tables, equipment and start filling strike water
- 10:30am - 11:00am
- Mash Ramp-up
- Fire the burners and get the mash water to strike temp
- 11:00am - 12:30pm
- Mash
- Single-Infusion, recirculate & Vorlauf
- 12:30pm - 1:00pm
- Boil Ramp-up
- Pull the grains, re-fire the burners and bring the wort up to a boil.
- 1:00pm - 2:30pm
- Boil
- Boil the wort, with hop additions
- 2:30pm - 3:30pm
- Chill & Transfer
- Bring down the wort temp out of the danger zone, add Whirlpool hops, thenfinish chilling and transfer to fermenting vessels
- 3:30pm - 4:30pm
- Cleanup
- Clean equipment & break everything down.
