6:05 — Batailles des Bierés – Jim B.

Our former contact is no longer working at the Green Room, so Tim will contact the Owner to square away our event permit and space reservation. Tony has graciously offered his brewdio as a backup location.
This will be a BJCP sanctioned competition, contestants can earn points, experience for Judges, also part of the Bayou Circuit.
Entries are accepted through ReggieBeer
Cost is $7 each, for 3, 12oz. bottles
Entries must be made by this Friday January 11th, and are to be shipped or dropped off to Marcello’s in Lafayette or LA Homebrew in Baton Rouge.
We have 28 entries so far, but none have been delivered. (same occurred last year at this time)
Judging will be held Saturday, January 19th, 2019 starting at 10am. (participants are encouraged to arrive by 9am)
Judges can bring their entries the day of the contest.

6:09 — Additional Membership Benefits – Tim

Tim noted that members have access to Club equipment for ‘rental’. We will be looking to buy a complete brewing system that can be rented out.

6:10 — Officer Nominations & Elections – Kent

Positions available:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Sergeant at Arms
  • Librarian

A posting on the Facebook page for the club will be made calling for volunteers/nominations for officers to be voted on at the February meeting. (Feb 5th, 2019)
Jeff Dubois nominated Jim Boudreaux for President, Jim accepted and noted he would be honored to serve again as president. (He was the initial member of the club and has been involved since 1990)

6:15 — Basin Beer Festival – Adrien

Craft brew festival in Morgan City will be including Homebrewers this year and have asked for us to participate.
To be held Saturday, March 16th in downtown Morgan City.
Tim & James will contact the organizer and post more details.
Acadiana Brew Nutz (Adrien, Jeff, Tyler & Brian S.) are bringing at least one 5gal keg.
Austin indicated interest in brewing as well.
We need to provide our own 10′× 10′ tent. Adrien advised he can secure one. Tim also has a tent, but can’t attend the event.
If enough brewers are going, we can use the club’s Irish Coffin for dispensing.
We also need to provide a club sign, which Jimmy has.
An inquiry was made about wine, but that is not included in this event.

6:20 — Bulk Grain Buy – Tim

Kevin with Marcello’s has invited us to participate in a bulk grain buy this year if we buy an entire pallet and will likely offer grain to us near or at cost. Expect to pay $40–50 per 50# sack. (plus shipping)
This is another perk of membership as only members can participate in the grain buy.

6:23 — Equipment for Sale – James

James has some equipment he’s getting rid of:

  • An old beat-up side-by-side fridge with 2 holes for taps and a side port for CO₂ — $100
  • A newer fridge with top freezer — $150
  • Converted Sanke Keg with valve ports (no valves)

6:30 — Adjourn
